Tugboats were formerly a lot more common in Manhattan Harbor. They often docked at Exchange Place before the big pier was built. Along with all the old cobblestones that were removed by modern developers in the 90s, the tugboats will be missed.

The port of New York rose to great prominence with the help of tugboats, but now the city's wealth has little to do with shipping. Urban evolution is most dynamic.
